Ryan Hart pulls away to grab Terry Traub Memorial at Ocean Speedway

Watsonville, CA…Ocean Speedway point leader Ryan Hart was part of an epic battle early in the feature, before driving away towards the finish to bring home the $533 top prize with the Hobby Stocks on Friday at the Terry Traub Memorial.

Fellow winners in Watsonville on Friday were Jim Pettit II with the IMCA Mods, Danny Wagner with the IMCA Sport Mods, Travis VanGilder in the Four Bangers, Mel Dunn with Police N Pursuit and Logan Mitchell with WMR.

The 33 lap Hobby Stock finale in memory of Terry Traub showcased a fantastic three car battle up front for much of the contest. Terry Campion, Ryan Hart and Rob Gallaher raced in a tightly bunched pack up front.

With Campion out front Hart made his move on lap 14 to assume the point. At the same time Gallaher jumped into second and continued to hound the rear bumper of the 38 car driven by Hart.

Gallaher’s excellent run came to a screeching halt when he got caught in lapped traffic to draw a caution on lap 22. After that, Campion tried his best to keep pace with the leader, but Hart was too strong out front and crossed under the checkered for his seventh Ocean Speedway triumph of 2025.

Campion crossed the stripe in second with Adriane Frost, 16th starter Lilly Mead and 12th starting Matt Kile rounding out the top five.

The 20 lap IMCA Modified feature saw Todd Hermosillo set a torrid pace during the opening laps. Point leader Jim Pettit II began to close the gap, however, and with 10 laps down he made move for the top spot that he would never relinquish.

Jonathan Hagio had immense speed during the night and certainly made Pettit work for it. With the laps winding down Hagio tried to size up the leader, but Pettit was mistake free on way to his third Watsonville victory of the season. Hagio, Hermosillo, Katelyn Robertson and Raymond Keldsen Jr ran second through fifth respectively.

With the IMCA Sport Mods it was Jim DiGiovanni rocketing out front at the waving of the Keith Trusso green flag. The hooked-up surface lent for a very fast paced 20 lap main event.

Ocean Speedway point leader Danny Wagner has had a tremendous campaign and would claim the lead with 13 circuits complete. Sport Mod rookie driver Landon King also followed for the runner up spot.

Wagner went on to claim his 7th win of the season at the quarter mile over King, DiGiovanni, Steven Allee and Shane Freeman.

Travis VanGilder took the lead at the start of the 15 lap Four Banger main event and never looked back en route to another Ocean Speedway win. Jonathan Welborn closed the gap late but had to settle for a runner up finish. Steve Roach, Cameron Squatritto and Peter Vannerus.

The final race of the year for Police N Pursuit was claimed by Mel Dunn who ran a terrific race up front. John Hohmann capped his driving career last night by bringing home the Ocean Speedway championship. Hohmann ended the campaign with three wins in the six races.

The WMR feature was all about point leader Logan Mitchell. The locally based driver took the lead and dominated the race to earn a clean sweep of Ocean Speedway for 2025. Terry Nichols, Anthony Bruno, Nathan Moore and Kinser Claridge comprised the remainder of the top five.
